My objective was to find out where the food we eat comes from. Another objective was why it's was better to buy local. Here is a PowerPoint to show what I found...

Farewell Zak

Yesterday was our final portfolio training for the program. As we come to an end of everything we've done these past few weeks. We discussed what we planned on doing after the program, career and college goals, and all types of other things that would help us in our future. Even though Zak could be a pain sometimes he really helped prepare us for the real world of business. Our last assignment of portfolio training was to type and email Zak and our mentors a resume, cover letter for a college, and of course a cover letter for a job. We've really made a lot of progress over these past four weeks. I can't believe this is really almost over. It feels like we just started. I'm really going to miss some friends I've made, others...not so much. But at the end of the day I think the work ethics and skills were more important and vital to my future endeavors. This is one of my last blogs but trust me we'll go out with bang so stay tuned.

Last Week

Thursday: We took a little trip over to the farmer's market(at Broad &Cecil B. Moore), it wasn't very exciting, however it was informative. I learned a lot about where they grow there crops, how they maintain their produce, etc.

Friday: Aside from getting paid, we went to the local Fresh Grocer. We browsed the store each with a different topic. My topic was meats but I switched with another group member because miscellaneous sounded more interesting. Miscellaneous produce are things like bread, butter, milk, etc. Miscellaneous is basically considered anything that's not a fruit, vegetable, or meat. We then surveyed the store looking for products relating to our topics and find items, their place of origin, etc.
